Susan Hayes

Flutist

Susan Hayes is an active performer, clinician, adjudicator, and teacher. As an orchestral performer, she has held principal flute positions with the Annapolis Symphony, The Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Prince George’s Philharmonic, and the Friday Morning Music Club. As a recitalist, she has given numerous performances in the Washington, DC area including The Sumner School, The Phillips Gallery, Strathmore Hall, Martin Luther King Library, The Kennedy Center, and The Clarisse Smith Performing Arts Center. She has made her debut at the Dame Myra Hess Foundation Recitals in Chicago, IL.

Ms. Hayes has been an adjudicator for district and state level competitions for ensembles and solos, and for The Virginia Governor’s School. She holds degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and from Northwestern University. Ms. Hayes received her Doctorate Degree in Musical Arts from the University of Maryland.
